Type Delight : Niessen & De Vries
We've been introduced to the masterful work
of Richard Niessen and Esther de Vries a few years ago at a typography workshop
in Cape Town presented by Richard Niessen, on invitation by the design studio The President; an unforgettable experience to learn from the master.
The duo from the Netherlands' projects are
harmonious compositions of typography, colour and playfulness to generate new
reference, beautiful patterns and tactile environments. They provoke one to
interact and explore with the printed page.
Here are some of our favorite projects. To
learn and view more of the magic, explore their website here.

Illustration Inspiration: Oppikoppi 2011 Posters
Local talent is surely not hard to find! Every year, the promotional posters for the Oppikoppi music festival held on a farm in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, just shows that SA has great talent. Fanakalo Visual Communication Studio, based in Stellenbosch, South Africa, designed these fantastic posters for Oppikoppi 2011.
Oppikoppi is a colloquial abbreviation of the Afrikaans phrase "op die koppie" wich litterally means "on the hill". Music lovers from all over the country pack their tents and sleeping bags to go camping in the bush, and to enjoy music ranging from rock, jazz, world music, accoustic and house at the various stages.
